Maximize your potential
From getting cut from AAA minor hockey to leading UMass to it’s first national championship. I’ve experienced all the highs and lows of an aspiring hockey journey.
You put the work in on and off the ice all year long. Leverage my personal experience and knowledge to improve your game and get you to the next level.
Remote video coaching allows you to have a personal coach who is able to provide you individualized feedback based on shifts from your own games.
A marathon not a sprint
Success isn’t achieved overnight. It’s about consistency and attention to detail over a long period of time. I’ve used this philosophy to work my way into the CCHL, the NCAA, and the AHL. I’ve never been considered a high end prospect or a high flying offensive player. I believe that self awareness, building relationships and an understanding of effectiveness with and without the puck have allowed me to stretch my career longer than many may have expected.
No matter how well you are playing as a hockey player, there are always things that you can improve upon.
Whether you are a high scoring top prospect or a crucial depth player on a successful team, I believe that there is always value in watching film to identify strengths and weaknesses.
Finishing a check and staying above your guy in the neutral zone can prevent your defenseman from having to stop a two on one. Having your stick in the correct passing lane can help you finish a check with a great angle and stop a neutral zone rush. Finding soft ice in the offensive zone can lead to creating your own shot lanes before the puck is even headed your way.
As you improve through the levels of hockey, the speed of the game increases and these small details become increasingly crucial. Be the player that your coach trusts to put out there in the last few minutes of a game. Responsibility and trust leads to more opportunity.
You can control your own effort and willingness to learn.
Let’s develop your winning brand of hockey together.
My Story
My name is Jake Gaudet and I am a current professional hockey player with a desire to give back to the game and mentor other motivated players.
Born in Ottawa, I grew up playing in the Ottawa Sting and Ottawa Jr 67’s organizations. As a late bloomer, I was cut from the highest level three years in a row and was drafted to the Kemptville 73’s while playing at the AA level throughout high school.
The CCHL became my goal as I played one year of Junior B before cracking the 73’s roster as an 18 year old. I slowly worked my way up the roster throughout my three years playing in Kemptville and managed to develop myself on and off the ice into a NCAA calibre player. Despite a broken ankle and surgery at the start of my overager year I was able to secure a scholarship offer from UMass and attend the Ottawa Senators Development Camp in 2016.
Playing under head coach Greg Carvel at UMass, I became a part of an extremely impressive culture. We became quickly educated to the value of being challenged every day and the attention to detail necessary to win at an elite level. Playing alongside the likes of Cale Makar, Mario Ferraro and many other remarkable hockey players and people, we were fortunate to earn great success and establish UMass as a hockey powerhouse.
Guided by our dedicated coaching staff, we learned through intense video review sessions and great attention to detail in the systems we utilized. Thanks to frequent individual video feedback, my teammates and I were able to develop the awareness necessary to individually thrive within the team culture. I am forever grateful for my relationships with assistant coaches Ben Barr and Jared DeMichiel who took the time to clip and show game film to my teammates and I after every single game throughout my college career.
In 2021, my four year career at UMass culminated in:
Hockey East Regular Season Championship
Hockey East Conference Championship
A combined 7-1 record in the NCAA Tournament
Two Frozen Four Championship Game Appearances
One NCAA National Championship
I was fortunate enough to sign an AHL contract with the Cleveland Monsters and am currently in my third year playing professional hockey pursuing my dreams of playing at the highest level.
Remote Video Coaching
What?
As your video coach, I’ll watch your game film, typically on Instat or the platform that your team uses.
Depending on your needs and frequency, I will analyze your game and identify patterns and situations where there is an opportunity to improve or make your game more effective.
I can help you with recruiting, league selection and many other challenges you may face outside of just hockey video.
When?
My goal is to teach you to be able to analyze your own games and develop confidence in your abilities.
We’ll meet on Zoom throughout your season to chat about your progress and goals. I’ll analyze your film and send you your clips on a more frequent basis.
I am avaliable and able to work around the demands of my own season. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of the game and find great fulfillment in seeing others succeed.
Why?
Gain confidence from your own strengths!
Improve your game with and without the puck. Place yourself in the best positions to play with a physical edge that will contribute to your own ‘winning’ brand of hockey.
Invest in yourself and your own game.
Marginal gains are a very real thing. A 1% improvement every day compounds over time into impressive accomplishments.

“The opportunity to work with a video coach is extremely important in hockey today, particularly in youth hockey. Speaking from experience as a late bloomer I was always one of the worst players on my youth teams and with only one coach for 20 players it was difficult to get meaningful feedback at such an important developmental age in hockey. Having a current player like Jake focus solely on an individuals game could have incredible benefits as he is a very intelligent player playing in one of the highest professional leagues in the world."
Carson Meyer, Columbus Blue Jackets
Testimonials
“Gauds is one of the best people I've met in hockey. He was my captain for our National Championship run at UMass, and while his play was a crucial part of us winning, I believe everything he did off the ice as a leader had a bigger impact on our team than anything. I personally looked up to Gauds as a mentor. He helped me figure out what it means to be a pro. Eat, sleep or managing your body his wisdom has helped me tremendously in preparing for pro hockey.”
Zac Jones, New York Rangers
“Jake is a student of the game and does everything within his power to be the best player and person he can be. Any young player would be extremely lucky to learn from his experiences. Jake was a pleasure to coach because he was willing to take honest feedback and find ways to translate skill sessions, practice, and video in to game performance. Jake is personable and a strong communicator which today’s modern hockey player can feel receptive to taking advice and elevating their game to the next level.”
Jared DeMichiel, Michigan State
